The legal system of the Russian Federation is a continental-type legal system, most often qualified to the Roman-German family of law, although one should bear in mind its specific features resulting from the separate cultural and historical development of the Russian state. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in the first half of the 1990s, Russia’s legal system was completely overhauled. Russia is one of the biggest players in the global economic turnover.
